The Onyx Big Pit reel features a matt black finish with subtle red decals and wooden handle. When ESP first started developing the ESP reel over two years ago we looked closely at other reels on the market, plus the reels we had been using ourselves for many years. All had impracticalities (after all, most 'big pit carp' reels are actually developed with sea fishing in mind) which could be vastly improved upon. So we identified certain crucial areas and set about developing a reel which would be a highly practical and durable carp fishing tool.

Introducing the baby brother of the original ESP Onyx reel, the new Compact version features all of the same excellent technical attributes of the original, but in a smaller, lighter (200g lighter) unit.

These eye-catching new EOS reels have proved incredibly popular and indeed reliable since their launch earlier in 2013. Both reels are perfect for the specialist angler that targets a host of species with the slightly larger 7000 model having more cranking power for larger, harder fighting specimens.

Daiwa 19 Emblem 45 SCW QD Reel The 45mm profile is recognised as the ultimate spool size for big distance casting. This new generation of Emblem utilises a reduced oscillation speed called Slow Cross Wrap, enhancing the line lay. The result is lower consumption of casting energy during line release, when combined with the friction reducing double lip profile of the LC spool increases casting distance by more than 5%. Supplied with a shallow C and spare deep LD spool; (300m – 0.35mm and 530m – 0.35mm). The C spool allows filling of three spools from 1000m of mono. Retrieval is geared down at 4.9:1 but still cranks up to 104cm per handle turn.
