For long range specialists, there is also a stainless Metal Head bobbin. This interchanges with coloured the Barrel Bobbins and weighs 15g and with the stainless chain connector and add-on weight incorporated, can be increased to 21g. This extra weight improves bite indication at range on a tight line and especially in windy conditions. Kev Hewitt favours the Metal Head for most of his fishing and especially when zig fishing at range with a heavy lead where it comes into play for indicating drop backs.

Introducing one of the most versatile indicators available today. The Kurve Indicator features an articulating head and unique line clip system which can be set to grip the line or allow it to run freely. These two key factors mean that the Kurve can be adjusted to be incredibly sensitive at picking shy bites or adjusted to minimize false bites caused by wind etc. Thanks to the flattened surface of the Kurves body, the indicator can be positioned flat on the ground when fishing slack line, again increasing sensitivity and decreasing false wind related bleeps. Damian Clarke designed these super-slick additional weights for fishing at long range, or with tight lines. Because the length of the Stow bobbin has to stay the same to ensure that they drop away on the bite, Damian had to find a way to add weight without adding length. The Overweights are the result. They slide over the weight that is supplied with the Stow heads. An inteal shoulder stops them from sliding up and down the head.

A smaller version of the famous Stow bobbins, which were developed on the banks of Elstow Lake and have been used by many members of Team Korda for years. The principle behind this bobbin is that it can be fished with both tight and slack lines, and when you get a take, the line releases from the clip on the side of it.

The Nash alarm range champions a compact design and the S5 is no different. Cosmetically, the alarm is nice, small and delicate looking with jet-black frame housing all the components, finished with the S5 and Siren branding in white. The S5 is easy to set up thanks to the practical direct screw thread attachment for Nash Bobbins used on the flagship R3 series alarms. Feature-wise, there is a roller wheel system that lets you know what is going on at the other end on your line. Instantly informing you of a take. The design of the roller feature of the alarm means there is an integrated line guard, minimising false indications, the alarm is generally very good at ignoring false indications from adverse weather conditions and currents, the dual wheel design is responsible for this. There is no sensitivity control either but the S5 provides a renowned Siren sensing capability with advanced communication technology with a bleep approximately every 5mm of the line being pulled. A perfect all-round alarm that is a reliable, responsive indicator.

Sonik’s Gizmo Litez Bob is a fully adjustable and very adaptable bobbin indicator system which comes supplied with two different length Opti-curve chains. The chains which measure 100 and 180mm, have a screw fitting attachment at each end. The base end screws into the bottom of the bobbin head (or into the removable 10g screw in weight) and the top end screws into the super strong hockey stick fitting which sits below the bite alarm. The removable 10gm weight can be un-screwed from the bobbin base for ultra-light presentation or added onto the bobbin base when fishing at range, where more weight might be needed. Chain length selection will depend on the indication presentation that is needed and as-a-general-rule, tight line fishing usually requires a shorter chain and slack line fishing requires the use of a longer chain.
