The base end screws into the bottom of the bobbin head (or into the removable 10g screw in weight) and the top end screws into the super strong hockey stick fitting which sits below the bite alarm. The removable 10gm weight can be un-screwed from the bobbin base for ultra-light presentation or added onto the bobbin base when fishing at range, where more weight might be needed.
