E.S.P.

ESP was launched in early 1999 and the initials literally stand for Extra Sensory Perception – or 'sixth sense'.

Prior to the brand launch, various names were being kicked around and the ESP name was inspired by an off-the-cuff remark made about Terry Hearn, the brand's longtime consultant.

It was suggested that he caught so many big, difficult to catch carp that he must have some sort of sixth sense or extra sensory perception - so the name stuck and ESP was born!

ESP Soft Ghost Fluorocarbon 20m

ESPSOFTGHOST
ESP Soft Ghost, Now even softer with more stretch, ESP Soft Ghost is an excellent hooklink or leader material particularly for wary carp in clear water. Being a pure fluorocarbon with the same light refractive index as water it is virtually invisible. A specific gravity of 1.78 makes it denser than water so rigs sink quickly and lie tight to the bottom. For maximum knot strength at the swivel end we recommend a 5 turn grinner or palomar and to attach the hook, a knotless knot or domhoff whipping knot.
From £7.95

ESP Anchor Braid 10m

ESPABRAID
ESP Anchor Braid, ESP has made an Anchor Braid which is extra dense and heavyweight designed to sink fast without the need for tungsten putty. Super supple and limp, it hugs the bottom following contours and undulations. This blend of high-tech fibres also provides excellent knot strength. 15LB and 20LB are available in low key weed green and gravel brown, Anchor Braid is a definite edge when fishing for pressured rig-shy carp.
From £6.25

ESP Camo Sink Link 10m

ESPCAMOLINK
ESP Camo Sink Link, ESP Camo Sink Link is a super strong, soft un-coated braided hook link material which takes camouflage to the next level. Tightly woven with a silky smooth feel and featuring alternating tones of colour which act to break up the outline of the hook link making it really inconspicuous, this provides a definite edge when fishing for pressured, rig shy carp in clear water. Although dyneema based for maximum strength, the special combination of interwoven fibres makes this braid sink heavily and its suppleness ensures it hugs the contours of the lake bed. Perfect for a variety of presentations such as stiff / soft or reverse combi rigs when used in conjunction with a stiffer material such as Ghost fluorocarbon or for simple braided bottom bait rigs, especially on waters where stiffer materials may be treated with suspicion or for stalking at close quarters. Available in two colour ranges, camo brown and green which blends in perfectly over weed and 3 tone brown which is virtually invisible over gravel, in 15lb, 20lb and 25lb on handy little 10m spools.

ESP Stiff Rig Bristle Filament 20m

ESPSTIFFRIG
The Stiff Rig relies on a rigid hooklink to stand the bait off a fixed distance from the lead. The rigidity of the rig improves the effectiveness of the bolt rig system and provides a more efficient self-hooking mechanism. ESP Stiff Rig Bristle Filament is a low visibility, clear, filament with exceptional knot strength and abrasion resistance. However, its key property is that once smoothed out and tensioned into a straight length it has an almost 'spring loaded' quality which provides the ultimate stiff rig material. It is also the perfect material for chod rigs and the hook section on a hinge rig, where the filament can be set into the perfect curve for optimum hooking efficiency.

ESP Marker Gum 5m

ESPMGUM
ESP Marker Gum is the perfect material for tying stop knots on monofilament and braid-ed main lines to maintain consistent accuracy when clipping up and casting to baited spots and features. It works in exactly the same way as the popular pole elastics used for marker knots but ESP Marker Gum is much finer in diameter, nominally 0.45mm but un-der tension it will stretch and contract to around just 0.30mm. This fine diameter produc-es tiny knots which simply fly through the rings without hindering distance. Available in fluoro orange and yellow the different colours can be used on the same reel to mark dif-ferent spots. A simple 3 turn stop knot tightened down will grip the line securely and not move. To remove the knot simply cut one of the tag ends flush with the knot and pull on the other tag end to release. Available on 5m spools (although by stretching the material down you end up with almost twice as much).

The super strong Dyneema core has an achievable knot strength of over 30lb. This soft version is perfect for subtle presentations with hook baits such as small boilies and nuts. Balanced or buoyant baits combined with the inherent suppleness of the braid will help the rig settle perfectly while still pushing the bait away from the lead. Available in muted camo weedy green, camo brown and choddy silt. Supplied on a 10m designer spool to fit the popular tackle boxes. Tried, tested and perfected in conjunction with Terry Hearn.

ESP Cryogen Grip Rigger Barbed Hooks

ESPCRYOGR
When ESP released its new series of Cryogen Hooks in March of 2016 the brand knew it was onto something golden. However, it wasn’t entirely prepared for the huge outcry of support that it received as carp anglers recognised the advantages that these uniquely manufactured hooks offered them. There were soon calls for more ESP Cryogen hooks in the series and the brand, already with hooks in development, were happy to oblige. This ESP Cryogen Grip Rigger is, as the name suggests, the product of a beautiful marriage between the original Cryogen Grippers and Cryogen Stiff Riggers. Combing the shape of the best selling Stiff Rigger with the devastating beaked point of the Gripper, this hook ensures that you can enjoy an exceptional hold – in fact, it is such a good hook that it can almost be considered unfair on the carp as it really will have no choice once it takes the hookbait! This Grip Rigger fills the gap between a chod or stiff rig hook and a beaked hook, bringing you the best of both worlds! It has proved deadly in weedy and snaggy conditions, providing you with unprecedented hook hold and all-round high-end performance. They are ideal for use with a popped-up carp bait setup. As the name suggests, these hooks benefit from the same unique cryogenic treatment as the original series. This treatment process used to modify the molecular structure of steel, reducing the hook’s propensity to stress, increasing its resistance to all the usual wear and tear which comes part and parcel with life on the bank, and improving its overall strength whilst still retaining its slim gauge. This is a technique which is most commonly used in the engines of Formula One cars in order to ensure that they can offer a high performance throughout their time on the track and it is used to a similar effect with these hooks. In fact, during the extensive testing process, the brand only received a handful of reports that the point of the hook had turned over and they never heard a report of a hook gape widening. Bearing in mind that the likes of Terry Hearn were using these hooks to bring in huge double figure carp, this is an incredibly impress feat. In fact, the brand is confident in stating that the Cryogen series is between 30% and 40% stronger than any other PTFE coated hook on the market – although the exact figure is hard to ascertain. This ESP Cryogen Grip Rigger Hook joins a series of three new hooks in the range – all of which have been designed to fill a gap in the market to ensure that all anglers can target the very biggest personal best carp with confidence, no matter the conditions on the water. All of the Grip Rigger hooks feature a beaked point and a micro barbed finish to ensure that they provide you with an exceptional hook hold – even in snaggy conditions. The hook comes in packs of 10 and it is available in five different sizes. These range from a size four right the way to through to a size eight, so whether you’re starting out on smaller doubles or you want to dive in at the deep end with a monster chunk of a fish then you’ll always have the perfect ESP Cryogen hook for the job. Heavy forged, with the same wire gauge as the original Stiff Rigger, and designed with pop-up, chod, and stiff rig fishing over weeds and snags in mind, the ESP Cryogen Grip Rigger will soon become a firm favourite in your carp fishing arsenal.

ESP Cryogen Curve Shanx Barbed

ESPCRYOCSB
This is the same classic curve pattern previously known as the ESP Raptor, but this new range has been made even better by stepping up the wire gauge in each size and giving them the Cryogen treatment. These Curves are now around 25% stronger than their predecessors while still retaining long fine needle sharp points which are now extra durable. These are highly effective in a whole variety of rig presentations (perfect for the Ronnie Rig) and their quick turning, anti-eject shape combined with a needle sharp point ensures exceptional hook holds.
From £4.65

ESP Cryogen Para-Point Barbed Hooks

ESPCRYOPPBH
As the name suggests, this ESP Cryogen Para-Point Hook has been designed using a unique cryogenic tempering process. Most commonly used in the motor sport industry, where it is used to strengthen the resilience of engines in Formula One cars, this is a process which alters the molecular structure of steel. In fishing hooks, this reduces the hook’s susceptibility to stress, increases its resistance against the kinds of wear and tear which you would usual expect to damage a hook on the bank, and it improves overall hook strength. This results in a hook which is, on average, between 30% and 40% stronger than traditional fishing hooks. The process first involves super heating the hook to temperatures in excess of 180 degrees. This is the point at which traditional fishing hooks are left to cool and packaged, but it is only the start of the process in the life of an ESP Cryogen Hook. The hook is then super-cooled over an extended period of time (usually 24 hours), bringing the hook temperature down to minus 195 degrees. This is the cryogenic freezing process and it is where the real strengthening magic happens. Finally, the hook is slowly brought back up to an ambient temperature – again over a number of hours. Not only does the ESP Cryogen Para-Point hook benefit from ESP’s cryogenic tempering process but it also benefits from a PTFE ‘Tufflon’ coating. A stronger and more durable version of Teflon, Tufflon ensures that the hook is super-slick – your fish won’t even have a chance!

ESP Cryogen Trig-Hammer Barbed

ESPCRYOTH
ESP Cryogen Trig-Hammer, A new long shank pattern that has proved outstanding during field testing. Ultra-sharp, long fine needle points combined with an aggressive shape that achieves incredibly secure hook holds. Especially affective on Ronnies and also bottom bait rigs where it flips and pricks instantly. Available in barbed and barbless in sizes 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8.

ESP Cryogen Stiff Rigger Barbed

ESPCRYOSR
This legendary hook pattern has been further refined and improved to make it the go-to hook for hinged stiff rig and chod rig presentations. Compared with its predecessor the Mk-2, the super sharp point is longer and finer and more inclined towards the shank for a stronger shape. The point is also in-line with the 13 degrees out-turned eye so all the force is straight along the point section of the hook, rather than across the gape making them incredibly strong.

ESP Cryogen Gripper Barbed

ESPCRYOG
ESP Cryogen Gripper, When ESP was looking at its existing hook range, the brand designers realised that something was missing: the brand was lacking the perfect, all-round, beaked point carp hook! The team set to work to design a product to fill the gap, utilising their brand new technology, and this ESP Cryogen Gripper was the result. This new hook is a combination of the classic T-6 and D-7 series, both of which were best sellers in their day, and it has been described as the perfect hook for fishing with bottom baits. It has been designed with a 10 degree in-turned eye, which is slightly shallower than that of the ESP Cryogen Classic in order to allow for an improved beak, and it features a super-fine, long, curved point for impressive hook holding ability. One of the biggest benefits of this new hook is its improved corrosion resistance. Terry Hearn, the living carp fishing legend, was wowed during the testing process of this hook as, even when fishing on acidic and silty bottomed pits, he has never experienced point corrosion with this hook – giving him the confidence to leave his rig out there for hours without the itching feeling that he needs to reel in and check that all is well. This ensures that he can leave the water undisturbed, tempting in those wily double figure monsters for which he is famous.

ESPCRYOCB
This hook is a result of taking the existing Big-T pattern and improving and refining it to create a better, stronger hook pattern. The Classic features a longer, finer straight point which is slightly more inclined towards the shank. ESP Cryogen Grip Rigger Barbless

ESPCRYOGRBB
ESP Cryogen Grip Rigger Barbless Hooks, As the name suggests, this is an amalgam of the best features of the Cryogen Gripper and Stiff Rigger, which is almost unfair on the carp! The shape is that of the Stiff Rigger, with the fine curved 'sticky' point of the Gripper. We have been getting asked for a while for a chod / stiff rigger hook with an ultra-sharp beaked point and have answered those pleas with a hook that has even converted a few straight point devotees through the testing process! Although hook choice is often down to personal preference rather than exact science, a beaked point can provide extra assurance especially in weedy or snaggy conditions, with unbeatable hook holds - and so they have proved through the testing process. Made in the same wire gauges as the Cryogen Stiff Riggers, making them the perfect pop up hook, the Grip Riggers feature heavy forging and of course the Cryogen treatment making them incredibly strong with durable points.

ESP Cryogen Stiff Rigger Barbless

ESPCRYOSRB

ESP Cryogen Gripper Barbless

ESPCRYOGB
This pattern is the culmination of striving to design the perfect all round beaked point carp hook. The Gripper was subject to various design tweaks through the development process and the end result was well worth waiting for! The super fine, long curved point is the perfect shape and during testing, provided exceptionally secure hook holds. Other features include a 10-degree in-turned eye (slightly less than the Classic to allow for the inclined beaked point), heavy forging and of course, the slick PTFE Tufflon coating. New manufacturing techniques including both high temperature and cryogenic tempering have produced significantly stronger hooks with more durable, long life points. Cryogenic tempering is a process used to improve the molecular structure of steel which in turn reduces stress and improves strength and wear resistance. It is used in many disciplines with Formula 1 engine parts being a classic example. Bench tests on initial samples proved to us that the new tempering processes combined with improved designs and heavy forging resulted in hooks that were 25-30% stronger than other Tufflon coated carp hooks in the same wire gauge. So rather than having to improve strength by simply increasing wire gauge, new manufacturing processes have allowed ESP to maintain optimum wire gauges for each size which allow for fine, ultra-sharp needle points which are now more durable than ever.
